State Wildlife/Game Areas (listed by name)

Important Reminder: It is your responsibility, as a user of public lands, to ensure you are informed of all current rules and regulations relevant to your activities. Many wildlife/game area maps provide more information using a "standard back" [pdf] on maps in this series; however, some wildlife/game area maps contain special area-specific information on the back which users also need to read. Ensure that you read and understand the Important Regulatory and Land-use Related Comments for Wildlife/Game Areas and any special-back-pages on wildlife/game area maps, to avoid unlawful or illegal activities. If you have questions, contact a DNR office such as the DNR Wildlife Division Lansing Office main phone at 517-284-WILD (9453) by email to DNR-Wildlife@michigan.gov, or see the List of DNR Wildlife Division offices or the primary Contact the DNR page.

This page provides detailed wildlife/game area information and maps for individual State Wildlife/Game Areas or special cooperating wildlife-focus areas with other agencies. Wildlife/game areas are either administered and managed by the DNR Wildlife Division, or co-managed by the DNR Wildlife Division under another administering DNR Division or another agency. There are alternate options to find State Wildlife/Game Area and detailed information; such as a Clickable State map, a Review a List of counties with areas per county, a List of individual areas with details, or you may Use the Mi-Hunt Interactive Mapping Application. There are help documents for understanding area types [pdf], using maps [pdf] plus using PDFs with GPS [pdf], help about parking at areas [pdf], and wildlife/game area summary document [pdf] and a summary table [xls]. Some State Wildlife/Game Areas with Universally Accessible Features , low-slope, or personal assistive mobility devices (PAMD) for those hunters or public-land users needing special access or accommodations like low-slope wheelchair access, special hunting blinds, and more. Adobe Reader (available free), is required to view and print PDF files linked to this page.

Other lands for hunting or trapping opportunities exist, such as other public land like other portions of DNR State Forests and State Parks and Recreation Areas, cooperating private land like on select private-landowners participating within the Hunting Access Program and/or the Commercial Forest Access lands program (be aware those cooperating private land areas have other rules and regulations, versus public lands), or select other private lands which have had hunting rights retained by the State after a sale or exchange; see the descriptions of these Select Privately-Owned Lands Open to Public Hunting [pdf] (only in Barry and Crawford Counties).
