The responsibilities of a parent liaison are varied. One of the main responsibilities remains contacts with families, having an understanding of the concerns that families face with their children, the barriers and what can be done through sharing ideas remain at the forefront of what she does. Jan currently, attends meetings with several different parent groups. She listens to concerns, shares some information, and is genuinely interested in what is happening with education in your part of the state. The Parent Liaison works with the Quality Assurance unit providing help with training development, information and support. She also works with Early On as a member of the State Interagency Team, System Review Team member and general office support. Many families are contacted by phone during system review for input during the review process. Involvement in several projects as assistant grant manager mean involvement taking several different forms from attending monthly staff meetings to support on the phone as needed. Development of the newsletter from the parent liaison is meant to provide some information and possible discussion items for parent advisory committees. The items found within the newsletter are from the parent liaison perspective only. These newsletters will be coming on a by-monthly basis, mailed to PAC chairpersons and posted on the MDE/OSE-EIS web page. |
