Vesting - (2 yrs=50%, 3 yrs=75%, 4 yrs=100%) If you leave state employment prior to completing 4 years of service, you will lose any unvested state contributions (i.e. if you left after 2 years of service you would only be eligible to receive 50 % of the state contributions and would lose the other 50%.) Group Insurance Benefits  If you have at least 10 years of service, the state will offset your insurance premium payments when you retire. Ten years of service = 30% insurance premium subsidy, with an additional 3% for each additional year of service. Pay dates are the second Thursday of each pay period. The pay dates are shown on the NuUnion State of Michigan Calendar. Pay Checks New employees receive their first paycheck during their second pay period of employment. For example, if you start on the first Monday of a pay period, you will put in 3 weeks and 4 days of work before you get your first paycheck for the first two weeks worked. Your first paycheck is mailed to your home. Pay Earnings Statements (check stubs) are viewed in your MI HR Self-Service account. You will normally be able to see your check stub in self-service the Friday before pay day.Z &0*# Direct Deposit Required All new employees hired after 10/1/2002 are required to have their paychecks direct deposited. Human Resources will set up the default account for new employees. You can have up to 4 direct deposits (including your default account). You can set up the additional direct deposits in your MI HR Self- Service account or by contacting the MI HR Service Center at 877-766-6447. 8s'  ;Standard Work Hours Standard work hours for full-time employees are 40 hours in a week; 80 hours in a pay period. Overtime Pay Overtime pay is paid to eligible employees for time worked in excess of 8 hours in a day and/or 40 hours in a week. The overtime pay rate is normally 1 times your normal hourly rate. X< ^  (! Paid Holidays Full time employees receive pay for 8 hours for each paid holiday. Holiday hours are pro-rated for part-time employees Employees must be in full pay status the day before and the day after a holiday to receive the holiday pay. If the first day of the pay period that a new employee is starting is a holiday; the new employee will not be paid for that holiday. Accrual amounts go up with years of service (chart follows on next page). Annual leave accruals are pro-rated for part-time employees and when employees have lost time. Annual leave usage must be pre-approved by supervisor. Upon separation, you are paid off for 100% of your annual leave.X+   & Initial Leave Grant An initial leave grant of 16 hours is given to new employees. This leave grant may be used anytime. You must have prior supervisor approval for initial leave grant usage. School / Community Participation Leave Career employees who have completed 1040 hours of satisfactory service are credited with 8 hours of school/community participation leave annually on October 1. These hours do not carry forward beyond the fiscal year. School/Community Leave must be used in 1 hour increments. Employees must obtain prior approval for use by completing and submitting a DMB-14-OSE School and Community Participation Request.Z'  Sick Leave All full-time employees accrue 4 hours of sick leave each pay period. The accrual amount for sick leave does not go up with years of service. Sick leave accruals are pro-rated for part-time employees and when employees have lost time. A comment is required in the DCDS timekeeping system for all sick leave usage. Use of sick leave for more than 5 consecutive days requires a doctor s statement. If hired after 10/1/80, no sick leave is paid off upon separation.NZZ ncB7 eMilitary Service Credit For those individuals that have prior active military service, you may be eligible for full or partial credit for the time you served. Up to five years of active military service can count towards annual leave accruals and longevity. If you have prior active military service and would like credit for it you will need to provide your Human Resources Office with a copy of your DD-214 showing your active service time. If you are a new hire this should be provided prior to reaching 720 hours of continuous service. All others should provide this information when turning in the rest of your hire packet. If this is not turned in with the rest of the hire packet the service credit will become effective in the pay period in which the Human Resources Office receives the information. Military credit does not count for seniority purposes..fMD9 "Supplemental Employment Before engaging in supplemental employment outside of the Department of Labor and Economic Growth, you must submit a supplemental employment form to your supervisor for approval. The Director of the Office of Human Resources has the final authority to approve supplemental employment requests. Supplemental employment requests will not be approved if there is any conflict of interest between your present job and the second job. In addition, if the activities connected with the second job interfere with your attendance or the efficiency of your State of Michigan employment, it will be necessary to terminate one of the two positions. Employees covered by bargaining unit agreements should refer to the provisions of such negotiated agreements.
