Dear Matt,
| Harvest Festivals Celebrate the Fall Season |
 |
|
It's not too early to start planning to join the fun
at a Harvest Festival at your favorite state park or
recreation area. Specific events and activities
will vary by park, but costumes, decorations and
yummy treats are always planned. Check to see when
your favorite park will be hosting a Harvest
Festival and make your reservation today!

| Firewood, Emerald Ash Borer, And What You Can Do To Help |
 |
|
It’s only a little green bug. But the destruction it
can cause is truly remarkable. According to a park
ranger at Warren Dunes State Park, "After the trees
were cut down, it looked like a bomb had hit our
campground."

| The Folk School at Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park |
 |
|
The primary philosophy of the new Porcupine
Mountains Folk School, sponsored by the Friends of
the Porkies, is to embrace learning for learning's
sake. Classes promote the preservation of knowledge,
ideas, stories, and arts and skills of both the past
and present, and emphasize learning through hands-on
experience, conversation, reflection, and, of
course, lots of practice.
