LANSING - The State Board of Education is expecting to receive bi-partisan approval Tuesday of its plan to address the vital challenges for Michigan's education system. The State Board will review the final recommendations that feature a balanced plan for education investment.
Pursuant with its state Constitutional responsibility to advise the state Legislature on the financial requirements for Michigan education and higher education, the State Board expects at its regular monthly meeting Tuesday to make a bi-partisan endorsement of its plan for financing the set of education services needed for Michigan's economic revival.

The State Board's expected action on the full report follows months of public meetings and comment, as well as expert and stakeholder testimony on what is needed to move Michigan's educational system forward in the 21st Century.
The State Board also will review and discuss Michigan's second round application for the federal Race to the Top competition. Preparation of Michigan's second try for federal support, has been characterized by unprecedented collaboration and consensus among Michigan's education stakeholders
