Technical Note: Utilizing the Fall 2004 Single Record Student Database (SRSD) 
Submission, this data set was created by the Center for Educational Performance 
and Information, Data Analysis and Reporting Unit. This data set includes only 
student records that passed the CEPI Error Check Program. All completely 
duplicated student records were omitted. Students submitted without a full-time 
equivalency (FTE) value were excluded with the exception of early childhood. In 
addition, the following students were eliminated: graduates, "non-public" 
students, students that "exited before" the count date, students that "enrolled 
after" the count date, "adult education" students, students attending "non-
public" schools, and potential duplicates matching by district code, school 
code, last name, first name, date of birth and gender. Racial/ethnic codes 
include the following: American Indian (ai), Asian (as), African American (aa), 
Hawaiian (hw), White (wh), Hispanic (hs), and Multiracial (mr). 

*The totals for K-12 do not include the ungraded or early childhood pupil 
headcounts.
