Ticks can be active in Michigan any time the temperature is greater than 45 degrees F.  This is often from March to November.

Hunters and anglers can not get Lyme disease from dressing carcasses, or eating game meat, but are more likely to be in tick habitats.

For Michigan citizens living in areas where the Blacklegged tick is common, there are methods to protect yourselves in your yards. 

Our pets can become hosts for ticks and also become infected with Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases.  Topical flea and tick treatments are recommended, and a Lyme disease vaccination is available.  Consult your veterinarian for more information.
