• Infection in Pet Mammals, Livestock and Pet Birds
A small number of domestic and zoo animals have become infected with West Nile virus, however most of these species appear to have a relatively strong resistance.

• Protecting Your Pets
While the only vaccine currently available for West Nile virus is for horses, you can take measures to protect pets against mosquito bites.

• Laboratory Testing
Live and dead domestic animals suspected of having West Nile virus infection are tested at Michigan State University, Diagnostic Center for Population and Animal Health.

• Risk of WNV for Companion Animals (dogs and cats)
