2018 LED Streetlighting Rebate Program

The Michigan Agency for Energy through the Michigan Energy Office (MEO) is offering rebates to eligible applicants to upgrade existing public street lights with light emitting diode (LED) lights.  The purpose of this program is to encourage energy waste reduction and promote community vitality by accelerating the transition to energy efficient LED street lights. MEO will match utility rebates up to 25% of the total cost of the lighting replacements with a maximum MEO payment of $10,000 per applicant.  

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must be a local municipality(s), K-12 public school(s), public university(s), or 501c(3) nonprofit; State and Federal Governments are not eligible
  • Applicant must own the fixtures that are to be replaced
  • Proposed lighting must be LED fixture and DLC (Design Lights Consortium) listed
  • Project must have already been approved for utility rebate
  • Project must not have completed before October 1, 2017
  • Projects must be completed by May 1, 2018
  • Applicant must be registered in the State of Michigan Vendor System http://www.michigan.gov/budget/0,4538,7-157-79033---,00.html
  • Bulk purchasing through MiDEAL is encouraged

 

Process

  • Applicant to gather information and submit complete application (incomplete submissions will not be considered)
  • MEO will have up to 30 days to approve or deny application.
  • MEO will notify applicant of award and provide Award Acceptance Letter
  • Applicant to sign and return Award Acceptance Letter within 2 weeks of receiving letter or rebate will not be awarded
  • MEO will verify installation (or accept utility verification)
  • MEO will pay out rebate within 45 days of verification

    • Proof of payment / receipts for LED lights installed;
    • Proof of utility verification/rebate

 

Timeline

  • January 12, 2018 – Solicitation release
  • January 29, 2018 – Applicant questions due via email
  • February 5, 2018 – Questions and answers (Q & A) posted to website 
  • Awards will be given on a first come first served basis until funding is depleted or May 1, 2018 whichever is first. Applications received after funding is depleted will not be funded
