Instructor workshops will be required for all educators who plan to implement the Explore Bowhunting curriculum.

The goal of the workshop is to:

  • Introduce instructors to the Explore Bowhunting program.
  • Demonstrate, through the workshop itself, how Explore Bowhunting teaches students through hands-on activities.
  • Outline the many ways Explore Bowhunting can be used.
  • Have instructors discover that Explore Bowhunting is educational, versatile and fun.
  • Inspire instructors to use the curriculum in a variety of ways.

To register for an Explore Bowhunting workshop, please contact Kathy Garland at 517-243-4258 or GarlandK3@Michigan.gov.

The activities within the curriculum can be used from start to finish, individually or in units, to teach the basics of bowhunting or to teach students necessary skills to get close to wildlife. Each activity is designed to use a hands-on approach that is fun and engaging for any age!

Activities within the curriculum focus on:

  • Bowhunting.
  • Getting close to wildlife.
  • Animal behavior.
  • Animal calls.
  • Animal tracking.
  • Archery.
  • Camouflage.
  • Shot setup for bow or camera.

Once educators attend the one-day instructor workshop, the following materials will be provided:

  • Curriculum book.
  • Media packet.
  • Equipment booklet.
  • Student handbooks.

In addition, each instructor will have access to an equipment trunk containing all the materials and equipment necessary to conduct the activities.
