| A personal identification card (PID) can be issued to
any eligible resident, regardless of age because there is no age requirement.
To be eligible, you must provide proof of identification and not possess
a valid Michigan driver license. All identification is subject to Secretary
of State approval. The cost of a PID is $10. Apply at any Secretary of State
branch office.
A person applying for a PID must be photographed. An
infant or minor child who is unable to sign their application may have
a parent or legal guardian present to sign their application. PID cards
issued to applicants under twenty-one years of age have "UNDER 21" printed
on the card, above their photo. The PID is valid for four years from the
person's last birthday.
Under Michigan law, a PID is as valid as a driver license
for identification purposes.
Visit the Secretary
of State website for more information and a list of
Secretary of State branch offices where you can apply.
