Foster Care Transitional Medicaid

The process for automatic and manual referrals for the Foster Care Transitional Medicaid (FCTMA) program will be corrected in Bridges April 25, 2014. This will impact applications for eligible youth who are currently leaving the Foster Care program.

It will not resolve denials under FCTMA for older former foster youth who received FCTMA until their 21st birthday and are now applying to receive extended FCTMA until the age of 26. The Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) are aware of the problem and are working to resolve it. Please check back regularly for an update.
Leslie Adams is the state level DHS contact for all Medicaid questions related to FCTMA or Department Ward Medicaid. Adams works jointly with the health liaison Officers and health point personnel in all of the counties. Adams can be reached directly at AdamsL4@michigan.gov.
