Governor Granholm Announces Appointment to Michigan Technological University Board of Control

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the recent appointment of Thomas L. Baldini of Marquette to the Michigan Technological University Board of Control for a term expiring December 31, 2016.  He succeeds David Bruel whose term has expired.  Baldini is the district director for U.S. Congressman Bart Stupak.

The Michigan Technological University Board of Control is responsible for the general supervision of the institution and the control and direction of funds of the institution.  It also determines compensation for services and property, confers degrees, fixes tuition and other fees and charges, and promotes the purposes of the institution.

This appointment is subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan Constitution of 1963.  It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
