Contact:  Liz Boyd 517-335-6397

April 27, 2009

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today issued the following statement on General Motors' announcement related to the company's restructuring plans:

"The state is beginning to review the plan that General Motors today announced to achieve long-term viability.  While I can say we are determined to work with the federal government and the U.S. automakers to guarantee that there is a bright future for domestic automakers, my first priority is to fight to save jobs and create new jobs for the Michigan families and entire communities that depend on them."
