Whereas, In today’s economy, dominated by computers and high technology,
our labor force must be highly trained and well skilled; and,
Whereas, The Michigan Apprenticeship Steering Committee, Incorporated, have
given the citizens of Michigan access to outstanding training for today and
tomorrow; and,
Whereas, The Michigan Apprenticeship Steering Committee, Incorporated is a
non-profit organization composed of representatives from labor, management,
education, government, and the public sector, all combined to meet the challenges
of changing technology by providing training programs; and,
Whereas, From October 20-21 there will be a Michigan Apprenticeship and Training
Conference for the members of the Michigan Apprenticeship Committee to study
changing technology, the impact of new legislation and affirmative action programs,
enforcement, and promotion; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan,
do hereby proclaim the week of October 20, 2003, as Apprenticeship Week in Michigan.
