Whereas, The Midwest Archives Conference (MAC) was found in 1972 and has more
than 1,150 individual and 175 institutional members including a variety of corporate,
government, church and university archives as well as historical societies and
other manuscript repositories and special collections; and,
Whereas, The MAC is the nation’s largest regional professional association
for archivists; and,
Whereas, Dearborn, Michigan, was chosen by MAC for its annual fall meeting
with some of the 1,325 institutional and individual members in attendance; and,
Whereas, The MAC region is comprised of the State of Michigan and eleven other
heartland states; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan,
do hereby proclaim October 24, 2003, as Midwest Archives Conference Day in Michigan.
