Governor Granholm Announces Appointments, Reappointments

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments:       
           
Commission on Spanish Speaking Affairs
 
Arthur S. Luna of Charlotte, international servicing representative with UAW Region 1-C, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 10, 2011.  He succeeds Ana Gabriel whose term has expired.
 
Frederick Feliciano of Dearborn, vice president of external affairs for Epiphany Solutions Group, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 10, 2011.
 
Benjamin D. Inquilla of Plainwell, managing attorney with Farmworker Legal Services, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 10, 2011.
 
Miguel A. Ramirez of Mattawan, assistant director of multicultural affairs at Western Michigan University, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 10, 2011.
 
Alicia Villarreal of St. Clair Shores, president and CEO of Latino Family Services, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 10, 2011.
 
The Commission on Spanish Speaking Affairs was created by Public Act 164 of 1975 to develop policies and plans to serve the needs of Michigan's Spanish-speaking residents.  The commission, appointed by the governor, consists of 15 members from around the state who are of Spanish-speaking origin and are Spanish-speaking.
 
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
                                                                         
Certificate of Need Commission
     
Bradley N. Cory of Marquette, retired administrator of the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, is reappointed to represent Republicans and nursing homes for a term expiring April 9, 2012.
 
Marc D. Keshishian, M.D. of Farmington Hills, vice president and medical director of clinical affairs for Blue Care Network of Michigan, is reappointed to represent Democrats and nonprofit health care corporations operating pursuant to the Nonprofit Health Care Corporation Reform Act, 1980 PA 350, MCL 550.1101 to 550.1704 for a term expiring January 1, 2012.
 
Adam A. Miller of Grosse Pointe Park, senior benefit consultant with the International Union, UAW, is reappointed to represent Democrats and organized labor unions in this state for a term expiring January 1, 2012.
 
Michael A. Sandler, M.D. of West Bloomfield, senior staff physician of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology with Henry Ford Hospital and president of the Michigan State Medical Society, is reappointed to represent Democrats and individuals licensed under part 170 to engage in the practice of medicine for a term expiring April 9, 2012.
 
The Certificate of Need Commission   is a bipartisan entity that was created by Public Act 368 of 1978 to  review and determine the need for new institutional health services, facilities, or organizations being offered or developed in Michigan.
 
These reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
  
Mackinac Island State Park Commission
 
Karen L. Karam of Ray, broker at Karen Karam Broker, is reappointed to represent Democrats for a term expiring April 12, 2015.

The Honorable Frank J. Kelley of Lansing, former attorney general of Michigan, is reappointed to represent Democrats for a term expiring April 12, 2015.
 
The Mackinac Island State Park Commission  is a bipartisan entity that was created by Public Act 451 of 1994 and is responsible for all aspects of managing Mackinac State Historic Parks, including Fort Mackinac, Mackinac Island State Park, Colonial Michilimackinac, and Historic Mill Creek. 
 
These reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan     Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
 
Board of Ethics
 
John D. Pirich of East Lansing, partner with Honigman, Miller, Schwartz & Cohn law firm, is reappointed to represent Democrats for a term expiring February 7, 2013.
 
Milo "Mike" Pumford of Newaygo, a former Michigan state representative, is reappointed to represent Republicans for a term expiring February 7, 2013.
 
The Board of Ethics, a bipartisan entity, is authorized to receive complaints concerning alleged unethical conduct by public officers or employees and to inquire into the circumstances surrounding those allegations.    
 
These reappointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
