LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Micheal R. Lohmeier to the Michigan Tax Tribunal.  Mr. Lohmeier, of Clarkston, is principal and senior analyst for Lohmeier Valuation Services.  He also serves as chief property tax commercial and industrial appraiser for the city of Auburn Hills Assessor’s Office.   

Mr. Lohmeier is appointed to represent real estate appraisers for a term expiring June 30, 2006.  He succeeds Richard Southern who has resigned.  

The Michigan Tax Tribunal is a seven-member, multi-disciplinary administrative tax court that has exclusive jurisdiction for all property tax matters. The tribunal also has jurisdiction over final assessments concerning income tax; sales, use, and withholding taxes; single business tax; motor fuel tax; tobacco products tax; and estate tax. In addition to the assessor and accountant members, the tribunal also has an appraiser member, two attorney members and two at-large members. 

This appointment is subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  The appointment stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
