Whereas, The health of our community’s people is the foundation for a
caring and productive society and our future rests with our ability to find
cures for and adequately treat individuals who are afflicted with a variety
of illnesses; and,
Whereas, Hundreds of thousands of people are living with Scleroderma and related
conditions who continue to wait for a cure; and,
Whereas, The Scleroderma Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
saving lives through Scleroderma education and awareness; and,
Whereas, The Scleroderma Foundation works to lessen the suffering related to
this disease through research, service, and patient and family support; and
now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State
of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the month of June, 2003, as Scleroderma Awareness
Month in Michigan in recognition of the seriousness of this disease and the
need for continued efforts to find a cure.
