Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Michigan Higher Education Assitance Authority

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Michigan Higher Education Assistance Authority: 

Colleen M. McNamara of Okemos, executive director of Michigan Cable Telecommunications Association and member of the Michigan State University Board of Trustees.  Ms. McNamara is appointed to represent Michigan State University for a term expiring May 22, 2008.  She succeeds Donald Nugent whose term has expired.

The Honorable Jack D. Minore of Flint, former State Representative.  Mr. Minore is appointed to represent citizens of the state for a term expiring May 22, 2008.  He succeeds Sarah Richardville whose term has expired.

Gina M. Torielli of West Bloomfield, associate professor of law and director of the graduate program in taxation at Thomas M. Cooley Law School.  Ms. Torielli is appointed to represent private occupational schools for a term expiring May 22, 2008.  She succeeds Julianne Princinsky whose term has expired.

James E. Barker IV, of Rochester Hills, first vice president of the Comerica Bank Loan Center.  Mr. Barker is reappointed to represent an eligible lending institution for a term expiring May 22, 2008.

The Michigan Higher Education Assistance Authority enhances freedom of choice and equality of access to Michigan students seeking a postsecondary education.  It also administers a wide variety of state and federal scholarships, as well as grant and loan programs.

These appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
