LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and designation to the Michigan Environmental Science Board:

Constance M. Boris, Ph.D. of Grosse Pointe Farms, owner of Legacy Environmental Consulting.  Dr. Boris is appointed to represent individuals with expertise in environmental engineering for a term expiring August 6, 2007.  She succeeds Dr. Ralph H. Kummler whose term has expired.

Norbert E. Kaminski, Ph.D. of Okemos, director of the Michigan State University Center for Integrative Toxicology.  Dr. Kaminski is appointed to represent individuals with expertise in environmental toxicology for a term expiring August 6, 2007.  He succeeds Dr. Lawrence J. Fischer whose term has expired. 

David T. Long, Ph.D. of East Lansing, professor for the Michigan State University Department of Geological Sciences.  Dr. Long is reappointed to represent individuals with expertise in geology for a term expiring August 6, 2007.

Joan Bray Rose, Ph.D. of Williamston, is designated to serve as Chairperson of the Michigan Environmental Science Board at the pleasure of the Governor.  Dr. Rose was appointed to the board in February of 2004, representing individuals with expertise in microbiology. 

The Michigan Environmental Science Board is an independent autonomous state agency established in 1992 to provide scientific and technical advice to the Governor on matters affecting the protection and management of environmental and natural resources in the state. 

These appointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
