Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to State Transportation Commission

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced two appointments to the State Transportation Commission. They are:

Maureen Miller Brosnan of Livonia, previous council member for the City of Livonia. Ms. Brosnan is appointed to represent Democrats for a term expiring December 21, 2007. She succeeds Betty Jean Awrey whose term has expired.

James R. Rosendall of Grand Rapids, vice president of market development for Synagro Technologies, Inc. Mr. Rosendall is appointed to represent independents for a term expiring December 21, 2007. He succeeds John Garside whose term has expired.

The State Transportation Commission establishes policies for the Department of Transportation, its programs and facilities, and other public works of the state as provided by law. Responsibilities of the Commission include the development and implementation of comprehensive transportation plans for the entire state, providing professional and technical assistance, and overseeing the administration of state and federal funds allocated for these programs.

These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
