Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Controlled Substances Advisory Commission

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments to the Controlled Substances Advisory Commission: 
 
Margherita P. Clark, R.N., M.S.N. of St. Johns, nursing careers department chair for Lansing Community College.    Ms. Clark is appointed to represent the Michigan Board of Nursing for a term expiring August 30, 2005.  She succeeds Cynthia A. Phillips whose term has expired.
 
Rhonda J. Hennessy, D.D.S. of Northville, general dentist for Romulus Family Dental, P.C.  Dr. Hennessy is appointed to represent the Michigan Board of Dentistry for a term expiring August 30, 2005.  She succeeds Ashraf Maher whose term has expired.
 
Suhair Farida, R.Ph. of West Bloomfield, pharmacy supervisor for CVS Corp.  Ms. Farida is appointed to represent the Michigan Board of Pharmacy for a term expiring August 30, 2005.  She succeeds Steven W. Durst whose term has expired. 
 
Charles L. Blanchard of Haslett, professional healthcare representative for Pfizer, Inc.  Mr. Blanchard is appointed to represent pharmaceutical manufacturers for a term expiring August 30, 2005.  He succeeds Edward L. Ervin whose term has expired. 
 
James D. Grant, M.D. of Bloomfield Hills, physician for South Oakland Anesthesia Associates, P.C.  Dr. Grant is reappointed to represent the Michigan Board of Medicine for a term expiring August 30, 2005.
 
The Controlled Substances Advisory Commission is responsible for monitoring indicators of controlled substance abuse and diversion and for recommending a plan of action for overcoming such abuse and diversion.
 
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  The appointments stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
