Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Michigan Travel Commission

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments to the Michigan Travel Commission:

Kenneth L. Hayward of Okemos, vice president of sales and marketing for the Grand Hotel.  Mr. Hayward is appointed to represent owners and operators of for-profit businesses from the private sector of travel, tourism and recreation industry for a term expiring August 20, 2008.  He succeeds Jill P. Hazel whose term has expired.

Arthur L. Tebo of Walloon Lake, retired executive from Boyne USA Resorts.  Mr. Tebo is appointed to represent owners and operators of small businesses for a term expiring August 20, 2008.  He succeeds Jeffrey Tuma whose term has expired.

The Michigan Travel Commission is responsible for assisting Travel Michigan in developing a comprehensive, long-range vision for tourism.  Travel Michigan is an agency housed within the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) that promotes tourism within the state of Michigan.  The Commission’s first meeting of 2005 will be held Friday, June 10 in Sault Ste. Marie.
 
“From its fabulous beaches and expansive forests to its professional sports teams and cool cities, Michigan has something to offer everyone,” Granholm said.  “The experience and dedication Kenneth Hayward and Art Tebo bring to this Commission will ensure Michigan remains a popular destination for years to come.”
 
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  The appointments stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
