Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Manufactured Housing Commission

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments and reappointment to the Manufactured Housing Commission:

Brenda K. Abbey of Jackson, employment and training specialist for Michigan State AFL-CIO Human Resources Development Inc. (HRDI).  Ms. Abbey is appointed to represent residents of a licensed mobile home park having 100 or more sites for a term expiring May 9, 2007.  She succeeds Gerritt Veldman whose term has expired.

Ronald A. Blank of Bloomfield Hills, president of the Franklin Group, Inc.  Mr. Blank is appointed to represent licensed mobile home dealers for a term expiring May 9, 2006.  He succeeds Sanford Green whose term has expired.

Carole K. Elliott of Ypsilanti, president of the Swan Creek Homeowners Association.  Ms. Elliot is appointed to represent organizations whose membership consists of mobile home residents for a term expiring May 9, 2006.  She succeeds Edward Menczer whose term has expired.

Mary M. Fowlie of Bloomfield Hills, group senior vice president of Standard Federal Bank.  Ms. Fowlie is appointed to represent financial institutions for a term expiring May 9, 2008.  She succeeds Creighton Weber whose term has expired.

David P. Hagey of Buchanan, director of marketing for Fairmont Homes.  Mr. Hagey is appointed to represent manufacturers of mobile homes for a term expiring May 9, 2007.  He succeeds C. Edgar Bryant whose term has expired.

Kathy M. Edwards-Johnson of Belding, general manager of Northern Properties LLC.  Ms. Johnson-Edwards is appointed to represent operators of a licensed mobile home park having 100 or more sites for a term expiring May 9, 2007.  She succeeds Kamal Shouhayib whose term has expired. 

Brian W. Fannon of Novi, C.O.O. of Sun Communities, Inc.  Mr. Fannon is reappointed to represent operators of a licensed mobile home park having 100 or more sites for a term expiring May 9, 2007.

The Manufactured Housing Commission is responsible for establishing a uniform policy relating to all phases of manufactured housing businesses, manufactured housing parks, and seasonal manufactured housing parks.
 
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
