LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments and reappointments:
Technology Tri-Corridor Steering Committee
Hayes W. Jones of Pontiac, director of economic development and community affairs for Oakland County. Mr. Jones is appointed to represent members at large for a term expiring September 30, 2006. He succeeds Richard Sloan who has resigned.
John H. Manor of Monroe, marketing director for the Michigan Chronicle. Mr. Manor is appointed to represent the nominee of the Speaker of the Michigan House of Representatives for a term expiring September 30, 2007. He succeeds Carlo Ginotti who has resigned.
Judith I. Bailey, Ph.D. of Kalamazoo, president of Western Michigan University. Dr. Bailey is reappointed to represent Western Michigan University for a term expiring September 30, 2007.
Mary L. Campbell of Ann Arbor, senior partner with EDF Ventures. Ms. Campbell is reappointed to represent members at large for a term expiring September 30, 2007.
Irvin D. Reid, Ph.D. of Detroit, president of Wayne State University. Dr. Reid is reappointed to represent Wayne State University for a term expiring September 30, 2007.
George F. Vande Woude, Ph.D. of Ada, director of research for the Van Andel Institute. Dr. Vande Woude is reappointed to represent Van Andel Research Institute for a term expiring September 30, 2007.
The Technology Tri-Corridor Steering Committee was created by Governor Granholm in October 2003 to continue the growth of the Michigan Life Sciences Corridor. The committee is focused on the emerging homeland security and critical advanced automotive technology sectors to steer the strategic direction of Michigan’s economic development initiative.
These appointments are not subject to disapproval.
Electrical Administrative Board
Mark A. Bauer of Midland, assistant business manager with IBEW Local 692. Mr. Bauer is appointed to represent master electricians serving as supervisors for a term expiring August 10, 2007. He succeeds Cynthia Czarniecki-Brown whose term has expired.
Rowland E. Cornish, III of Lansing, vice president and owner of Ro-Lyn Electrical Inc. Mr. Cornish is appointed to represent electrical contractors for a term expiring August 10, 2006. He succeeds Phillip Smith whose term has expired.
Ernest A. Harju of Iron Mountain, electrical project coordinator for M.J. Electric, Inc. Mr. Harju is appointed to represent electrical journeymen for a term expiring August 10, 2007. He succeeds Dennis A. Chalmers whose term has expired.
Clark S. Justin of Brighton, electrical sales engineer for Park Detroit. Mr. Justin is appointed to represent manufacturers primarily and actively engaged in producing material fittings, devices, appliances, fixtures, apparatus, and similar products used as part of, or in connection with, an electrical installation for a term expiring August 10, 2006. He succeeds Randy J. Bouwens whose term has expired.
Richard W. Long of Waterford, administrative assistant to the president and national community action program (CAP) director for the UAW International Union. Mr. Long is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring August 10, 2006. He succeeds Delvenia Beason whose term has expired.
Joseph F. Reyes of Sterling Heights, president and CEO of Integrated Media Technologies, Inc. Mr. Reyes is appointed to represent electrical parts distributors for a term expiring August 10, 2007. He succeeds Debra Perkins whose term has expired.
The Electrical Administrative Board, in addition to the inspection of wiring and its installation, establishes fees for inspection and appoints inspectors.
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
