Governor Granholm Makes Appointments

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments to the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports, the Michigan Public Educational Facilities Authority and the Michigan Iron Industry Museum Advisory Board.

Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports

Shanna J. Mueller of Canton, director of Powerhouse Gyms International Public Relations & Foundation.  Ms. Mueller is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring April 16, 2007.  She succeeds William J. Dabish whose term has expired.

Marilyn K. Anderson of Detroit, dietician and certified diabetes educator for Southeast Michigan Diabetes Outreach Network.  Ms. Anderson is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring April 16, 2007.

Geraldine Jackson of Detroit, retiree of the Detroit Department of Recreation.  Ms. Jackson is reappointed to represent the general public fir a term expiring April 16, 2007.

Linda Jimenez of Brownstown, executive director of Detroit After-School All Stars.  Ms. Jimenez is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring April 16, 2007.

Michael J. Maisner of Okemos, executive director of the Michigan Recreation and Park Association.  Mr. Maisner is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring April 16, 2007.

Florine Mark of Farmington Hills, president and chairman of the board for The Weight Watchers Group, Inc.  Ms. Mark is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring April 16, 2007.

Joanne P. McCallie of East Lansing, head coach, Michigan State Women’s Basketball.  Ms. McCallie is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring April 16, 2007.

The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports is charged with coordinating and developing a statewide physical fitness and health program.  The council has undertaken a number of initiatives, and partnered with several organizations to carry out their goals.  Notable events include the annual “Walk to School Day’ and partnering with the Michigan Parks and Recreation Association for “Walk Michigan.”
 
These appointments are not subject to disapproval.

Public Educational Facilities Authority

David S. Mittleman of East Lansing, attorney and partner with Church, Kritselis & Wyble, P.C.  Mr. Mittleman is appointed to represent Democrats for a term expiring March 18, 2009.  He succeeds Eldon Hancock whose term has expired.  This appointment is subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.

Ganesh V. Reddy of Okemos, director of Business Development and Government with HTC Global Services, Inc. in Troy.  Mr. Reddy is designated to serve as chairperson of the Michigan Public Educational Facilities Authority for a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor.  He was appointed to the authority in September of 2004.  This designation is not subject to disapproval.

The Michigan Public Educational Facilities Authority is responsible for administering the qualified public education facility bond program for Michigan’s public schools that are in need of new public educational facilities or whose existing public educational facilities are in need of renovation and remodeling.  The Authority is housed within the Michigan Department of Treasury.
 
Iron Industry Museum Advisory Board

James K. Dellies of Gwinn, congressional aid for U.S. Congressman Bart Stupak.  Mr. Dellies is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring October 4, 2008.  He succeeds Becky Berube whose term has expired.

Peter M. Kotila of Negaunee, retired middle school teacher.  Mr. Kotila is reappointed to represent the township of Negaunee for a term expiring October 4, 2008.

Don L. Mourand of Negaunee, owner and president of Data Driven Decisions, Inc.  Mr. Mourand is reappointed to represent the city of Negaunee for a term expiring October 4, 2008.

The Michigan Iron Industry Museum Advisory Board advises the Department of History, Arts and Libraries on policies, plans and programs concerning the Michigan Iron Industry Museum in Negaunee.  The Board also supports education programs and use of the facility.
 
These appointments are not subject to disapproval.
