Granholm Appoints Janet Allen Judge of 46th Circuit Court

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Janet M. Allen to the 46th Circuit Court, covering the counties of Otsego, Crawford, and Kalkaska.
 
Allen, of Gaylord, most recently served as attorney and owner of Janet M. Allen, P.L.C. law firm.  She also serves as executive board member of the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association, coordinator and instructor for the People’s Law School Program, and serves on the State Bar of Michigan Pro Bono and Upper Michigan Lawyers committees.  Ms. Allen’s participation in civic organizations includes the R.S.V.P. Legal Services Program for Senior Citizens, American Association of University Women, and Otsego County Friendship Shelter.  She also previously served as the past board president of the Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan.  
 
Ms. Allen earned her law degree from the Detroit College of Law and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. 
 
She replaces the Honorable Alton T. Davis who has resigned.  Her term expires January 1, 2007. 

This appointment is not subject to disapproval.
