Governor Makes Appointments to Michigan Truck Safety Commission

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointment and reappointments to the Michigan Truck Safety Commission:

Timothy R. Kaltenbach of Lansing, retired.  Mr. Kaltenbach is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring August 4, 2007.  He succeeds James H. Wardlaw whose term has expired.

Jacqueline A. El-Sayed, Ph.D. of Bloomfield Hills, associate professor at Kettering University.  Dr. El-Sayed is reappointed to represent four-year colleges or universities for a term expiring August 4, 2007.

Robert E. McFarland of Orchard Lake, shareholder with Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith, P.C. law firm.  Mr. McFarland is reappointed to represent private motor carriers for a term expiring August 4, 2007.

James C. Parrinello of Macomb Township, Michigan organizer for Teamsters Joint Council #43.  Mr. Parrinello is reappointed to represent organized labor for a term expiring August 4, 2007.

John E. Theroux of Holt, lead faculty of truck driver training at Lansing Community College.  Mr. Theroux is reappointed to represent Michigan community colleges for a term expiring August 4, 2007.

James A. Van Zoeren of Kalamazoo, president and CEO of Alvan Motor Freight, Inc.  Mr. Van Zoeren is reappointed to represent the Michigan Trucking Association for a term expiring August 4, 2007.

David G. Zick  of Bloomfield Hills, president of Group Associates, Inc.  Mr. Zick is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring August 4, 2007.

The Michigan Truck Safety Commission is responsible for the expenditures of the truck safety fund and also receives donations, and establishes truck driver safety education classes.
 
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
