Governor Granholm Announces Judicial Appointments

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following judicial appointments:

The Honorable John C. Foster of Clinton Township, most recently serving as judge of the 41-B District Court, is appointed judge of the 16th Judicial Circuit Court for a term expiring at twelve noon on January 1, 2007.  He succeeds the Honorable Deborah Servitto who was recently appointed judge of the 2nd District Court of Appeals.

Alfred T. Frank of Saginaw, most recently serving as assistant general counsel for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, is appointed judge of the 70th Judicial District Court for a term expiring at twelve noon on January 1, 2009.  He succeeds the Honorable Darnell Jackson who is being appointed to the 10th Judicial Circuit Court.

Jon H. Hulsing of Jenison, most recently serving as assistant prosecuting attorney for the county of Ottawa, is appointed judge of the 20th Judicial Circuit Court for a term expiring at twelve noon on January 1, 2007.  He succeeds the Honorable Wesley Nykamp who has resigned.

The Honorable Darnell Jackson of Saginaw, most recently serving as judge of the 70th Judicial District Court, is appointed judge of the 10th Judicial Circuit Court for a term expiring at twelve noon on January 1, 2007.  He succeeds the Honorable Leopold Borrello who has resigned.

Sheila A. Miller of Macomb County, most recently serving as assistant prosecuting attorney for the county of Macomb, is appointed judge of the 41-B Judicial District Court for a term expiring at twelve noon on January 1, 2009.  She succeeds the Honorable John C. Foster who is being appointed to the 16th Judicial Circuit Court.

Joseph S. Skocelas of Plainwell, most recently serving as assistant prosecuting attorney for the county of Kalamazoo, is appointed judge of the 57th Judicial District Court for a term expiring at twelve noon on January 1, 2007.  He succeeds the Honorable Gary Stewart who has resigned.

“These individuals possess an enormous amount of passion for both the law and for serving the citizens of Michigan,” Granholm said.

These appointments are not subject to disapproval.
