Governor Granholm Makes Appointments

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons and the State Potato Industry Commission:

Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons

James W. Sellman of Saugatuck, real estate salesperson with Shoreline Realtors.  Mr. Sellman is appointed to represent real estate brokers and salespersons for a term commencing July 1, 2006, and expiring June 30, 2010.  He succeeds Robert S. Piper whose term will expire June 30, 2006. 

Sheri M. Sutherby-Fricke of Wyandotte, licensed realtor in sales and consulting with Real Estate One.  Ms. Sutherby-Fricke is appointed to represent real estate brokers and salespersons for a term commencing July 1, 2006, and expiring June 30, 2010. She succeeds Thomas F. Kotzian whose term will expire June 30, 2006. 

The Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons provides for the licensing and regulation of real estate salespersons and real estate brokers, including anyone who acts as a real estate appraiser, real estate mortgage broker, building job broker, business chance broker, and/or engages in the sale of real estate as a principal vocation.

State Potato Industry Commission

Duane L. Andersen of Lakeview, partner with Andersen Bros, LLC potato farm.  Mr. Andersen is appointed to represent chip growers for a term expiring July 1, 2007. 

Patrick J. DuRussel of Manchester, vice president and treasurer of DuRussels’ Potato Farms, Inc.  Mr. DuRussel is appointed to represent fresh growers for a term expiring July 1, 2007. 
Dennis E. Hanson of Cornell, owner of Hanson Farm.  Mr. Hanson is appointed to represent seed growers for a term expiring July 1, 2007. 

Greg E. Iott of Kalkaska, co-owner of Iott Seed Farms.  Mr. Iott is appointed to represent seed growers for a term expiring July 1, 2007. 

Brian R. Sackett of Mecosta, partner with Sackett Potatoes.  Mr. Sackett is appointed to represent chip growers for a term expiring July 1, 2007. 
 
Randall D. Styma of Posen, co-owner and operator of R & E Farms.  Mr. Styma is appointed to represent fresh growers for a term expiring July 1, 2007. 

The State Potato Industry Commission is charged with increasing utilization of Michigan potatoes through market development, promotion and research. 

These appointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
