LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and the Board of Architects: 

Michigan State Housing Development Authority

Archie L. Clark of Ecorse, president and CEO of Progressive Parking LTD.  Mr. Clark is appointed to represent Democrats for a term expiring March 10, 2007.  He succeeds Florise R. Neville-Ewell who has resigned.

Mary M. Fowlie of Bloomfield Hills, chair of the Michigan Bankers Association and former group senior vice president of LaSalle Bank.  Ms. Fowlie is appointed to represent Republicans for a term expiring March 10, 2010.  She succeeds Gilbert B. Silverman whose term has expired.

Maureen R. Geary of Grand Rapids, vicaress of the Grand Rapids Dominican Sisters and project staff for the Vision to End Homelessness, Grand Rapids Area Housing Continuum of Care.  Ms. Geary is appointed to represent Independents for a term expiring March 10, 2010.  She succeeds Colleen Pero whose term has expired.

The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) provides financial and technical assistance through public and private partnerships to create and preserve decent, affordable housing for low and moderate-income Michigan residents.  MSHDA’s loans and operating expenses are financed through the sale of tax-exempt and taxable bonds and notes to private investors, not from state tax revenues.  Proceeds of the bonds and notes are loaned at below-market interest rates to developers of rental housing, and also help to fund home mortgages and improvement loans.

These appointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
   
Board of Architects

Christopher M. Siemion of Taylor, senior manufacturing engineer at Masco Corporation.  Mr. Siemion is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring March 31, 2010.  He succeeds Mark B. Dickow whose term has expired. 

Robert L. Stempien of Beverly Hills, director of the education group at Barton Malow.  Mr. Stempien is appointed to represent architects for a term expiring March 31, 2010.  He succeeds Larry Rizor whose term has expired. 

Paula C. Van Valkenburgh of Richland, architect and project manager at Eckert Wordell.  Ms. Van Valkenburgh is appointed to represent architects for a term expiring March 31, 2010.  She succeeds John Enkemann whose term has expired. 

Ronald L. Hausmann of Bloomfield Hills, vice-chairman of Walbridge Aldinger Company.  Mr. Hausmann is reappointed to represent professional engineers for a term expiring March 31, 2010.

Elisabeth E. Knibbe of Ypsilanti, sole proprietor and CEO of Elisabeth Knibbe Architects.  Ms. Knibbe is reappointed to represent architects for a term expiring March 31, 2009. 

The Board of Architects provides for the registration of persons practicing architecture and sets qualifications for registration. 

These appointments and reappointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
