Governor Granholm Makes Appointment, Reappointments

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointment and reappointments to the Workers’ Compensation Board of Magistrates and the Electrical Administrative Board: 
 
Workers’ Compensation Board of Magistrates

Melody A. Paige of Fenton, former magistrate and attorney in private practice.  Ms. Paige is appointed for a term expiring January 26, 2009.  She succeeds Alexander Ornstein who has resigned.

The Workers’ Compensation Board of Magistrates functions within the Department of Labor and Economic Growth.  Magistrates are responsible for conducting hearings in disputes that arise under the Workers’ Disability Compensation Act of 1969 and hearing cases related to workers’ compensation claims.
 
Electrical Administrative Board

Rowland E. Cornish III of Lansing, vice president and owner of Ro-Lyn Electrical, Inc.  Mr. Cornish is reappointed to represent electrical contractors for a term expiring August 10, 2009.

Clark S. Justin of Brighton, electrical sales engineer for Park Detroit.  Mr. Justin is reappointed to represent electrical parts manufacturers for a term expiring August 10, 2009.

Richard W. Long of Waterford, administrative assistant to the national community action program (CAP) director and president of the UAW International Union.  Mr. Long is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring August 10, 2009.

The Electrical Administrative Board appoints electrical inspectors in the state, inspects wiring and its installation, and establishes fees for inspection. 
 
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
