Governor Makes Appointments, Reappointments

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments and reappointments to the Michigan Osteopathic Medicine Advisory Board and the Collections Practices Board:

Michigan Osteopathic Medicine Advisory Board

Peter B. Ajluni, D.O. of Bloomfield Hills, president of Orthopedic Surgical Physicians, P.C.  Dr. Ajluni is appointed for a term expiring March 26, 2010.  He succeeds Patricia Roy, D.O. whose term has expired.

Melvin L. Larsen of Birmingham, president and CEO of Larsen & Associates, Inc.  Mr. Larsen is reappointed for a term expiring March 26, 2010.

The Michigan Osteopathic Medicine Advisory Board advises the Board of Control of Michigan State University on all matters pertinent to the school of osteopathic medicine.  The Michigan State University School of Osteopathic Medicine was established and located on the university’s campus by the State Board of Education.
 
These appointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.

Collections Practices Board

Sharon L. McWhorter of Detroit, president of American Resource Training Systems, Inc.  Ms. McWhorter is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2007.  She succeeds Harley Krapohl whose term has expired.

James P. Hoppin of Bloomfield Hills, vice president of National Credit Corporation.  Mr. Hoppin is reappointed to represent professional associations for a term expiring June 30, 2009.

The Collections Practices Board, created by Public Act 299 of 1980, provides for licensing and regulating collections agencies, imposes penalties for violations, and prohibits certain collections practices.
 
These appointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
