Governor Granholm Makes Appointments, Reappointments

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments to the Automobile Theft Prevention Authority Board of Directors, the Board of Marriage and Family Therapy, and the Michigan Aeronautics Commission:

Automobile Theft Prevention Authority Board of Directors

William B. Heemer of Northville, claims section manager of State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company.  Mr. Heemer is appointed to represent automobile insurers for a term expiring July 1, 2010.  He succeeds Suzanne Kaigler who has resigned.

Father Russell Kohler of Detroit, pastor of Most Holy Trinity Church.  Father Kohler is appointed to represent purchasers of automobile insurance for a term expiring July 1, 2010.  He succeeds Brenda Schneider whose term has expired.

The Automobile Theft Prevention Authority Board of Directors is the lead agency for reducing automobile theft in Michigan.  The authority oversees grant distribution to local law enforcement agencies and non-profit community organizations to reduce and prevent auto theft.
 
Board of Marriage and Family Therapy

Jeffrey J. Angera of Mount Pleasant, associate professor in human development and family studies at Central Michigan University.  Mr. Angera is appointed to represent licensed marriage and family therapists for a term expiring June 30, 2010.  He succeeds Joseph J. Horak whose term has expired.

The Board of Marriage and Family Therapy is responsible for the promulgation of rules to set standards of acceptable practices for marriage and family therapy and to assess penalties for when those standards are not met.  The board is also responsible for the recommendation of licensure to schools or individuals that have passed the designated exam, created by the board.

Michigan Aeronautics Commission

Joseph W. Prochazka of Galesburg, executive vice president and general manager of Duncan Aviation.  Mr. Prochazka is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring May 27, 2007.  He succeeds Eric Smith who has resigned.

The Michigan Aeronautics Commission is responsible for the general supervision of all aeronautics within the state.  The commission is empowered by state law to make rules and regulations governing all airports, flight schools, and other aeronautical activities.

These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
