LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointment and reappointments to the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards: 

Richard A. Mattice of Jenison, chief of police at the Kentwood Police Department.  Mr. Mattice is appointed to represent individuals submitted by the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police for a term expiring November 1, 2009. He succeeds James Q. St. Louis whose term has expired.

John P. Buczek, III of Saginaw, executive director of Michigan Fraternal Order of Police.  Mr. Buczek is reappointed to represent individuals submitted by the Fraternal Order of Police for a term expiring November 1, 2009.

Michael R. Moorman of Brighton, vice president of the Michigan State Police Troopers Association, Inc.  Mr. Moorman is reappointed to represent individuals submitted by the Michigan State Police Troopers Association for a term expiring November 1, 2009.

Gene L. Wrigglesworth of Lansing, sheriff of Ingham County. Sheriff Wrigglesworth is reappointed to represent individuals submitted by the Michigan Sheriff's Association for a term expiring November 1, 2009.

The Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards serves as the oversight commission for all law enforcement training funds and criminal justice training funds in Michigan.  The commission focuses on professionalism, formal in-service training, and the number of officers receiving training.  The commission also institutes law enforcement training standards, is working to implement a web-based information system available to all law enforcement officials, and awards training grants that advance the objectives of the commission. 
 
These appointments and reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
