LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Tracy Collier-Nix as judge of the 68th District Court, which serves the city of Flint, for a term expiring January 1, 2009.  She replaces Judge Michael D. McAra who has resigned.

Collier-Nix, of Flint, most recently served as civil service director for the city of Flint.  Previously, she served as affirmative action officer for Genesee County, as well as part-time executive director of the Congress of Flint School Administrators.  She is founder and director of the Greater Emmanuel Temple Youth Leadership Training Institute, facilitator of Apostolic Women United, and serves on the boards of directors of the YWCA of Greater Flint, Urban League of Flint, Community Dispute Resolution Center of Genesee County, Inc., and the Mid Michigan Library Cooperative.   

Collier-Nix earned her law degree from Wayne State University and her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan. 

This appointment is not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
