LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments:

Michigan Interagency Coordinating Council for Infants and Toddlers with Developmental Disabilities
 
Keith L. T. Alexander of Ann Arbor, president of Arnold & Tess Real Estate Investments, is appointed to represent parents of infants or children less than seven years old with disabilities and with knowledge of or experience with programs for infants and toddlers with disabilities for a term expiring October 31, 2010.

The Honorable Brenda J. Clack of Flint, state representative, is appointed to represent the Michigan Legislature for a term expiring October 31, 2008.

Sister Barbara J. Cline of Lowell, training manager of Early On Training and Technical Assistance, is appointed to represent other individuals for a term expiring October 31, 2008.

Barbara A. Corbin of Jenison, Early On coordinator of Kent Intermediate School District, is appointed to represent public or private providers of early intervention services for a term expiring October 31, 2011.

Kendra D. Edwards of Grand Rapids, children's ombudsman for Network 180, is appointed to represent parents of infants or children less than seven years old with disabilities and with knowledge of or experience with programs for infants and toddlers with disabilities for a term expiring October 31, 2010.

Laura L. Jensen-Hunt of Grand Blanc, secretary of the Grand Blanc Kiwanis Club, is appointed to represent parents of infants or children less than 13 years old with disabilities and with knowledge of or experience with programs for infants and toddlers with disabilities for a term expiring October 31, 2010.

Julie K. Lagos of Macomb Township, family liaison for the Macomb Intermediate School District, is appointed to represent parents of infants or children less than 13 years old with disabilities and with knowledge of or experience with programs for infants and toddlers with disabilities for a term expiring October 31, 2009.

Mark J. Larson, Ph.D. of Detroit, assistant professor of Wayne State University School of Education, is appointed to represent individuals involved in personnel preparation for a term expiring October 31, 2011.  He is also designated as chair for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
                    
Julie C. Lumeng, M.D. of Ann Arbor, assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Michigan, is appointed to represent other individuals for a term expiring October 31, 2011.

Angus M. Miller, IV of Brighton, executive director of the Livingston County Community Mental Health Authority, is appointed to represent public or private providers of early intervention services for a term expiring October 31, 2008.

Emilie Mullins of Monroe, chair of Monroe County Intermediate School District Parent Advisory Committee, is appointed to represent parents of infants or children less than 13 years old with disabilities and with knowledge of or experience with programs for infants and toddlers with disabilities for a term expiring October 31, 2011.

Johanna M. Ostwald of Iron Mountain, superintendent of the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District, is appointed to represent public or private providers of early intervention services for a term expiring October 31, 2009.

Mark A. Reigle of St. Joseph, supervisor of ancillary services of the Berrien County Intermediate School District, is appointed to represent public or private providers of early intervention services for a term October 31, 2008.

Mary A. Roberts of Alanson, employment manager of Odawa Casino Resort, is appointed to represent tribal government located in this state for a term expiring October 31, 2009.

Cynthia Shore-Banks of Detroit, health coordinator of the Office of Early Childhood for Detroit Public Schools, is appointed to represent public or private providers of early intervention services for a term expiring October 31, 2010.

Pattie A. Walter of Union City, director of public policy and program development of Community Action Agency of South Central Michigan, is appointed to represent head start programs for a term expiring October 31, 2009.

The Michigan Interagency Coordinating Council for Infants and Toddlers with Developmental Disabilities (MICC), formally known as State Interagency Coordinating Council for the Handicapped Infants and Toddlers, acts in an advisory capacity to assist the Department of Education with the performance of responsibilities under Section 635(a)(10) of IDEA, 20 USC 1435(a)(10), particularly, identification of sources of fiscal and other support services for early intervention programs, the assignment of financial responsibility to appropriate agencies and the promotion of interagency agreements.  It also advises and assists the department in the preparation of applications for financial and other assistance and amendments to the applications and the transition of toddlers with disabilities to preschool and other appropriate services.

These appointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.

Library of Michigan Board of Trustees 

Nancy S. Skowronski of Detroit, director of the Detroit Public Library, is reappointed to represent public libraries for a term expiring October 1, 2010. 
  
Francis "Bus" Spaniola of Corunna, retired governmental consultant, a former teacher, and former Michigan state representative, is reappointed to represent the general public for term expiring October 1, 2010. 

The Library of Michigan Board of Trustees makes recommendations on the budget, general policies, and services that the library provides.  The board also proposes rules that govern the operations of the library.

These appointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
