Granholm Appoints Dewane Judge of 2nd Circuit Court

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of John E. Dewane as judge of the 2nd Circuit Court, which serves Berrien County, for a term expiring January 1, 2009.  He replaces Judge Paul Maloney who has resigned.

Dewane, of St. Joseph, most recently served as attorney with Dewane, Peterson & Cullitan law firm.  He is the director of Cornerstone Alliance, director and president of Big Michigan Doings, Inc., director of the Berrien-Cass-Van Buren Workforce Development Board & Private Industry Council, and is a former president of the Berrien County Mental Health Board.   

Dewane earned his law degree and bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan. 

This appointment is not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
