Governor Granholm Announces Appointments, Reappointments

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments:
 
Michigan Board of Athletic Trainers
 
Laurie L. Ryan of Grand Rapids, director of sports medicine for Forest Hills Public Schools, is reappointed to represent athletic trainers for a term expiring December 31, 2011.
 
The Michigan Board of Athletic Trainers was created by MCL 333.17903 to license and regulate athletic trainers in Michigan.
This appointment is subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
 
Michigan Board of Chiropractic
 
Charles G. Fellows of South Lyon, former manager for Ford Motor Company and current substitute teacher for the South Lyon School District, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2011.  He succeeds Edward R. Knox whose term has expired.
 
Philip L. Knight, P.C. of Marshall, president of Marshall Chiropractic Life Center, P.C., is appointed to represent chiropractors for a term expiring December 31, 2011.  He succeeds Gary R. McLeod whose term has expired.
 
Lois A. Michelin of Newberry, retired member of the Quality Committee for the Helen Newberry Joy Hospital, is appointed to represent the general public for a term December 31, 2009.  She succeeds Clifford T. Flood whose term has expired.
 
Corey B. Rodnick, D.C. of Midland, owner of Rodnick Chiropractic Consultants, P.C., is appointed to represent chiropractors for a term expiring December 31, 2011.  He succeeds Patricia L. Chelenyak whose term has expired.
 
The Michigan Board of Chiropractic provides for the licensure and examination of persons prior to their entry into the practice of chiropractic, and provides penalties for violations that may occur. 
 
These appointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
 
Michigan Board of Dentistry
 
Julia A. Bera of Rockford, advisor for the dental assistant program at Grand Rapids Community College, is appointed to represent dental assistants for a term expiring June 30, 2010.  She succeeds Julie K. Dumas whose term has expired.
 
Lynn M. Desonia-Beatty of DeWitt, registered dental hygienist, is appointed to represent dental hygienists for a term expiring June 30, 2012.  She succeeds Barbara Purifoy-Seldon whose term has expired.
 
Deborah Manos, D.D.S. of Grosse Pointe Woods, owner of Deborah Manos, DDS, is appointed to represent dentists for a term expiring June 30, 2012.  She succeeds Ashraf Maher whose term has expired.
 
Deborah E. Priestap of Milford, owner of Kensington Orthodontist Specialists and an adjunct professor of dentistry for University of Michigan and University of Detroit Mercy, is appointed to represent dentists with health profession specialty certification and who are dental school faculty members for a term expiring June 30, 2010.  She succeeds Gary E. Jeffers who has resigned.
 
Rhonda J. Hennessy, DDS of Northville, general dentist for Romulus Family Dental, PC, is reappointed to represent dentists for a term expiring June 30, 2012. 
 
Raymond A. Maturo, DDS of Ann Arbor, pediatric dentist for Raymond A. Maturo, DDS, PC, is reappointed to represent dentists with health profession specialty certification for a term expiring June 30, 2012. 
 
Rosetta Sanders of Battle Creek, a former Michigan Department of Education employee, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2012.
 
Martha S. Swiger of Petoskey, registered dental hygienist for Bryan T. Stump, DMD Family Dentistry, is reappointed to represent dental hygienists for a term expiring June 30, 2012. 
 
The Michigan Board of Dentistry is responsible for the licensure and examination of persons prior to their entry into the practice of dentistry, dental hygiene, or dental assisting in Michigan and for the certification of dental specialists.
 
These appointments and reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
 
Joint Task Force for Health Professions in Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery
 
Thomas E. Siemaszko of Brighton, former Michigan Department of Corrections employee, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2011.  He succeeds Sallie A. Nyhan whose term has expired.
 
The Joint Task Force for Health Professions in Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery is responsible for the licensure and examination of persons prior to their entry into practice as physicians' assistants.
 
This appointment is subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
 
Michigan Board of Optometry
 
Peter M. Agnone, O.D. of Grand Blanc, owner and optometrist of Grand Blanc Eyes, is appointed to represent optometrists for a term expiring June 30, 2012.  He succeeds Danna D. Haba whose term has expired.
 
William D. Dansby of East Lansing, former executive vice president of the Michigan Optometric Association, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2010.  He succeeds Teresa A. Folino whose term whose term has expired.
 
Donald W. Lakin, O.D. of Clinton Township, president and optometrist of Family Eye Care Associates, is reappointed to represent optometrists for a term expiring June 30, 2012.
 
David C. McClintic, O.D. of Portage, optometrist with Rx Optical Laboratories, is reappointed to represent optometrists for a term expiring June 30, 2012. 
 
The Michigan Board of Optometry is responsible for the licensure and examination of persons prior to their entry into the practice of optometry in Michigan.
 
These appointments and reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
 
Michigan Board of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery
 
Christine L. Blackledge of Traverse City, owner of Michigan Decorations, LLC, is appointed to represent the general public for a term June 30, 2011.  She succeeds Nancy A. Brozek whose term has expired.
 
Lily Y. Gee of Haslett, former chair of the Administrative Law Section for the State Bar of Michigan, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2009.  She succeeds Leon Herschfus whose term expired.
 
Louis J. Geller of Huntington Woods, president and podiatrist of Geller Foot Clinic, is appointed to represent podiatrists for a term expiring June 30, 2010.   He succeeds Charles G. Kissel whose term has expired.
 
Scott E. Hughes, DPM, of Monroe, president and podiatrist of Foot + Ankle Specialists, is appointed to represent podiatrists for a term expiring June 30, 2010.  He succeeds Michael S. Schey whose term has expired.
 
Charles M. Morris of Wyandotte, pastor at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2010.  He succeeds Mary Ann Pater whose term has expired.
 
Raymond G. Mills of Bellaire, former president of the village of Bellaire, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2010.
 
Tara L. Scott, DPM of Southfield, president of the Foot & Heel Pain Institute of Michigan, is reappointed to represent podiatrists for a term expiring June 30, 2011.
 
The Michigan Board of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery provides for the licensure and examination of podiatrists and podiatric surgeons.
  
These appointments and reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
