LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments:

Advisory Council on Arab and Chaldean American Affairs

Lubna B. Jones of Linden, first vice president, financial advisor, and portfolio manager of Morgan Stanley, is appointed for a term expiring September 30, 2011.  She succeeds Martin Manna who has resigned.

The council serves in an advisory role to the governor, alerting her to pertinent issues within the largest Arab American and Chaldean American community outside the Middle East.  The council also makes recommendations about programs and policies for the betterment of Arab and Chaldean Americans in Michigan and promotes public awareness of Arab and Chaldean culture and accomplishments.

This appointment is not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.

Child Support Leadership Council
 
Randolph J. Dubitsky of Dearborn, deputy chief administrative officer of Advanced Technology Academy, is appointed for a term expiring April 11, 2010.  He succeeds John J. Sullivan who has resigned.

Verlie M. Ruffin of Detroit, Michigan Children's Ombudsman, is reappointed for a term expiring April 11, 2010. 

Jeffrey L. Sauter of Grand Ledge, Eaton County prosecuting attorney, is reappointed to represent nominees submitted by the Prosecuting Attorney's Association of Michigan for a term expiring April 11, 2010.

The Child Support Leadership Council advises the governor and the Supreme Court on the development and implementation of strategic goals for improving services to Michigan families.

These appointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.

Board of Marriage and Family Therapy

Brett W. Beckerson of Dearborn Heights, youth initiatives coordinator for the Triangle Foundation, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2012.  He succeeds Gregory B. Varnum whose term has expired.

Sama Harp of Dearborn Heights, instructor at the Real Estate One Academy, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2009.  She succeeds Margaret A. Glatfetter whose term has expired.

Shawntrain C. Watson of Muskegon, program coordinator for Grand Valley State University, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2011.  She succeeds Joette M. Lambert whose term has expired.

James J. Moriarty of Bloomfield Hills, psychologist and marriage and family therapist in private practice, is reappointed to represent licensed marriage and family therapists for a term expiring June 30, 2012. 

The Board of Marriage and Family Therapy is responsible for licensing and regulating the practice of marriage and family therapy in Michigan.   

These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  The appointments stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.

Michigan Board of Occupational Therapists

Christie L. Clipper of Taylor, owner of The Edge LLC, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2009.  She succeeds Judith A. Kucway whose term has expired.
 
Barbara J. Hemphill of Kalamazoo, associate professor emeritus at Western Michigan University, is appointed to represent occupational therapists for a term expiring December 31, 2010.  She succeeds Robert Ferguson whose term has expired.

Susan E. Robosan-Burt of Troy, adjunct faculty member of Macomb Community College for the occupational therapy assistant program, is appointed to represent occupational therapists for a term expiring December 31, 2009.  She succeeds Anita M. Berger whose term has expired

Grace A. M. Smith of Rockford, project manager at Tower Pinkster, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2009.  She succeeds Catherine Edwards whose term has expired.

John D. Miller of Detroit, tax consultant with KPMG LLP, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2011. 

The Michigan Board of Occupational Therapists provides for the registration of occupational therapists and occupational therapist assistants.

These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
