Governor Granholm makes appointments, reappointments

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments:

Michigan Board of Boiler Rules

Eric E. Cameron of St. Clair, aftermarket services/project management with DJ Conley Associates, Inc., is appointed to represent water tube boiler manufacturers for a term expiring June 30, 2009. He succeeds Neil F. Vierson whose term has expired.

Michael K. Muterspaugh of Eau Claire, senior jurisdictional inspector of FM Global, is appointed to represent boiler insurance companies for a term expiring June 30, 2010. He succeeds Lawrence R. Black whose term has expired.

The Board of Boiler Rules formulates definitions and rules for the safe construction, installation, inspection, and repair of boilers in this state. 

These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.

Renewable Fuels Commission

Charles A. Becker of Gladstone, resource supervisor for Plum Creek Timber, is appointed for a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor.  He succeeds Peter C. Madden.

The Commission shall investigate and recommend strategies that the Governor and Legislature may implement to promote the use of alternative fuels and encourage the use of vehicles that utilize alternative fuels.  They shall also identify mechanisms that promote research of alternative fuels.

This appointment is not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.

State Plumbing Board
 
A. Michael Buday of Traverse City, president of ABI Mechanical Contractors, is appointed to represent licensed plumbing contractors who hold a master's license for a term expiring June 30, 2011.  He succeeds the late Joseph C. Swindell.

The State Plumbing Board makes recommendations per the plumbing code rules and licenses plumbers in the state.

This appointment is subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.

State Police Retirement Board

Lt. Kevin P. McGaffigan of Albion, commander of the Michigan State Police Hastings Post, is appointed to represent officer members of the retirement system with the rank of lieutenant or above for a term expiring December 31, 2010.  He succeeds Joseph A. Thomas whose term has expired.

The board oversees the State Police Retirement System within the Department of Management & Budget and Office of Retirement Services.
 
This appointment is not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
