Governor Granholm Appoints Six to Michigan Board of Medicine

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments and reappointment to the Michigan Board of Medicine:

Abd Alghanem, M.D. of Flint, a plastic surgeon in private practice. Dr. Alghanem is appointed to represent physicians for a term expiring December 31, 2007. He succeeds Linda Hotchkiss whose term has expired.

Lynn Larson of Traverse City, retired educator and former vice president of the Michigan Education Association. Ms. Larson is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2007. She succeeds Paul McNamara whose term has expired.

Frank Raines, III of Farmington Hills, pastor for Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Raines is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2007. He succeeds Robert Nelberg whose term has expired

George Shade, Jr., M.D. of Farmington Hills, chief of the OB/GYN Department at the Detroit Medical Center and associate professor at Wayne State University. Dr. Shade is appointed to represent physicians for a term expiring December 31, 2007. He succeeds Charles Sanislow whose term has expired.

Marcy Street, M.D. of Okemos, dermatologist and owner of Doctor’s Approach Dermatology & Laser Center, P.C. in East Lansing. Dr. Street is appointed to represent physicians for a term expiring December 31, 2007. She succeeds Hassan Yaish whose term has expired.

James Grant, M.D. of Bloomfield Hills, physician for South Oakland Anesthesia Associates, P.C. Dr. Grant is reappointed to represent physicians for a term expiring December 31, 2007.

All of the above appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

The Board of Medicine examines and licenses persons prior to their entry into the practice of allopathic medicine in Michigan.
