Governor Granholm Announces Judicial Appointments

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following judicial appointments to the 6th Judicial Circuit Court, 25th Judicial District Court, 50th Judicial District Court, Dickinson County Probate Court and Barry County Probate Court:

Mark A. Goldsmith of Huntington Woods is appointed Judge of the 6th Judicial Circuit Court in Oakland County. He succeeds the late Honorable Patrick Brennan. Goldsmith is appointed for a term effective March 19, 2004, and expiring at twelve noon January 1, 2005.

David J. Zelenak of Lincoln Park is appointed Judge of the 25th Judicial District Court in Wayne County. He succeeds the Honorable Joseph H. DeLaurentis who has retired. Zelenak is appointed for a term effective March 22, 2004, and expiring at twelve noon January 1, 2005.

Michael C. Martinez of Pontiac is appointed Judge of the 50th Judicial District Court in Oakland County. He succeeds the Honorable Christopher C. Brown who has retired. Martinez is appointed for a term effective March 22, 2004 and expiring at twelve noon, January 1, 2005.

Thomas D. Slagle of Norway is appointed Judge of the Probate Court for Dickinson County. He succeeds the late Honorable John Torreano. Slagle is appointed for a term effective March 22, 2004, and expiring at twelve noon January 1, 2005.

Stephanie S. Fekkes of Hastings is appointed Judge of the Probate Court for Barry County. She succeeds the Honorable Richard H. Shaw who has retired effective March 26, 2004. Fekkes is appointed for a term effective March 29, 2004, and expiring at twelve noon January 1, 2005.

"These men and women will serve the Michigan bench and the people of Michigan with expertise, honesty, and fairness," Granholm said.
