"...During the first week in June, we’ll be highlighting just a few ideas to help people start their vacation planning. We have only six days, but there’s enough to see and do for 52 weeks worth of fun – this is the first stop in the tour."
George Zimmerman, vice-president of Travel Michigan, and Governor Granholm took in the ambiance of the Antler’s restaurant in Sault Ste. Marie. The restaurant, known for its collection of antlers, was an impromptu “mystery” visit on her tourism promotional tour.
Former State Police Director Rich Davis and his wife were among the many area residents who came out to greet Governor Granholm when she arrived in Petoskey.
The purpose of the travel promotion tour is to encourage instate travel among Michigan residents. Media accompanied the Governor throughout her journey and met her at each of her stops, offering an excellent opportunity to tell Michigan citizens about all that our state offers. Here she’s interviewed by Dave Walker of Traverse City station TV 7 & 4 in Petoskey.
Rex O’Connor of the Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City and the Lodge mascot greeted Governor Granholm at the popular family destination. The lodge features an indoor water park.
