Whereas, Our nation at its founding recognized the constitutional right to the pursuit of happiness; and,
Whereas, The Great American Grump Out since 2002 has encouraged people of all ages, all over the world, to be playful and respectful and designates one day each year to encourage people all over the United States to go twenty-four hours without being grumpy, crabby, or rude; and,
Whereas, Humor and playfulness increase peoples mental and physical health; and,
Whereas, The citizens of Michigan naturally seek to improve their quality of life to positively impact their families, communities, and state; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim May 31, 2006, as The Great American Grump Out Day in Michigan.
