Whereas, Chambers of commerce work with Michigan's business community to advance the civic, economic, industrial, professional, social and cultural systems of our state; and,
Whereas, Chambers of commerce are supported by the financial and volunteer resources of over 250,000 businesses located and operating in Michigan; and,
Whereas, Chambers of commerce have formally contributed to the protection of commerce and Michigan's business climate for nearly 100 years since the incorporation of the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce in Saginaw and the Fremont Chamber of Commerce in Fremont in 1909; and,
Whereas, The Michigan Chamber of Commerce Executives (MCCE) Association works to promote excellence and high ethical standards for chambers of commerce though education, information and networking opportunities; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 2007, as Chamber of Commerce Month.
