Whereas, The number of elderly and disabled Americans is dramatically increasing;
and,
Whereas, Assisted living is a long-term care service that fosters choice, dignity,
independence and autonomy in our elderly nationwide; and,
Whereas, The Michigan Center for Assisted Living proudly sponsors National
Assisted Living Week 2003; and,
Whereas, The theme of National Assisted Living Week 2003 is “Sharing
Life’s Treasures” which provides us the opportunity to appreciate
the treasures life has given us along our journey and the opportunity to share
them; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan,
do hereby proclaim the week of September 7, 2003, as National Assisted Living
Week in the State of Michigan, and I urge all citizens to visit friends and
loved ones who reside at these facilities and also to learn more about assisted
living services and how they benefit our communities.
