Michigan Broadcasting Community Service Appreciation Week

Whereas, The broadcasters in the State of Michigan have a long history of community service stemming back to the 1920’s when the first Michigan radio station went on the air; and

Whereas, Free over-the-air broadcasting is one of our nations finest resources available in every corner of our state delivering vital information, civil emergency messages and warnings, entertainment and joy to Michigan citizens; and

Whereas, Michigan’s Broadcasters have provided millions of dollars in community service during the past year; and

Whereas, The State of Michigan recognizes these community services and honors Michigan’s Broadcasters for their commitment to the State of Michigan and their local communities through their extensive service involvement; and now therefore be it

Resolved, That the week of February 17, 2003, be known as Michigan Broadcasting Community Service Appreciation Week.
