Jewish Sports Heritage Day

Whereas, It is important to recognize and appreciate professional sports for fostering active and constructive leisure habits in Michigan’s residents; and,

Whereas, Professional sports develop our mental alertness, enthusiasm, and improve our sense of camaraderie and self-esteem; and,

Whereas, The Jewish Sports Hall of Fame recognizes the long list of Jewish sports legends and the people who are as proud of their heritage as they are fanatical about sports; and,

Whereas, The Jewish Sports Hall of Fame focuses public attention on the outstanding contributions of Jewish men and women in professional sports; and now therefore be it,

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim March 28, 2004, as Jewish Sports Heritage Day in Michigan.
